  8.     Welcome to yet another semester at Calhoon University. We are happy to
  9. offer you three new courses: POTPOURRI, US AIRPOWER and COR BLIMEY. The
  10. first quiz is a little bit of everything; the second a test of your
  11. knowledge of the airplanes that strike terror into the hearts of those of
  12. us on the ground; and the third tests how well you know the British words
  13. for items we use every day.

  19.     At CALHOON UNIVERSITY each quiz consists of up to 100 questions and
  20. offers 4 multiple-choice answers. Use CRSR DOWN/UP to highlight the correct
  21. answer and press RETURN to enter your choice. Or sit back in your favorite
  22. chair and use a joystick in port 2. Select and enter your choice with DOWN,
  23. UP, and FIRE.

  25.     Questions are presented in a different random order each time the
  26. program is run to enhance learning value. In addition to the questions and
  27. answers the screen display indicates the number of questions presented, the
  28. previous high score, the point value for the current question and the
  29. cumulative score for the current quiz.

  32.  YOUR GRADE

  35.     The scoring system rewards consistently correct answers. The point
  36. value begins at 1. With each correct answer the point value is increased by
  37. 1. An incorrect answer resets the point value back to 1. There is no
  38. further penalty for incorrect answers and the quiz continues until all
  39. questions have been answered. The valedictorian will score 1275 points on
  40. 50 question quizzes, and 325 on 25 question puzzles.

  42.     Following each quiz the Dean's List displays the top 10 students. If
  43. your score qualifies you for honors a cursor appears on the appropriate
  44. line so that you may enter your name. Type from 1 to 10 characters and
  45. press RETURN to record your score.

  47.     From the Dean's List you may elect to try another quiz or quit. You may
  48. also quit a quiz in progress by pressing [Q] at the start of any question.
  49. In this case you will be taken to the Dean's List, but are not considered
  50. for honors, regardless of your current score. Your options are: Try a new
  51. quiz, Continue with the quiz in progress, or Drop out of school. When you
  52. drop out of school, the program searches for a LOADSTAR disk in the active
  53. drive. If none is found you are returned to BASIC.
